Summer Favourites

The summer is a great time to try new things - whether it's recipes, workouts, or skincare products. I know a lot of bloggers do this, and I like the concept but I'm going to structure it a little differently. Instead of just throwing products at you, I want to share some of the things I've learned over the past couple months, as well as some products that I do use and love (no sponsorships or any of that - just things I genuinely enjoy using).

Going to break this post down into ... knowledge bombs, training, recipes, places, and products. Like I said, just want to share some things I've learned this summer and some things I love and recommend!



F45 - a high intensity circuit-training gym that offers a 45-minute workout that will keep your heart rate up and metabolism revved throughout the day. There's also a two-week free trial, so definitely worth the try!

Hill Sprints - a great way to get outside and change up your interval training, you're able to increase both strength and power through the lower body while building up your cardiovascular capacity (I'd say that's a win-win)

Resistance Band Work - using a resistance band to switch up tension is an awesome way to give your muscles a different sort of stimulus, just always remember that YOU control the band, that band doesn't control you!


Homemade Nut Milks - GAME CHANGER.


2 Cups of Nuts (I used Almonds)

2 Cups of Filtered Water

1 Tsp of Vanilla Extract

Pinch of Pink Sea Salt


  • Let almonds soak in a bowl of water overnight (or at least for a couple hours - the longer they soak, the creamier the milk!)
  • Strain almonds and add to blender with 1-2 cups of fresh filtered water
  • Add vanilla extract and sea salt, and blend on high for 2-3 minutes
  • Using a milk bag or cheese cloth, over a large bowl pour the contents from the blender onto the cloth
  • Squeeze and strain until just the milk is left in the bowl
  • Store in a mason jar or airtight container and enjoy

Poke bowls, smoothie bowls, matcha lattes, and so much more, this place is the perfect spot for a mid-snack or to set up shop to crush some work. Make sure to take a peak at their aesthetic spray-painted walls and wing mural on the side!

  • Garden Gangsters - 171 East Liberty St. Unit 127A, Toronto, ON

Hip & hop music blaring and green smoothies - what more could you ask for?! They have a great selection on their menu between smoothies, juices, bowls, and salads.

An old favourite from my days living in Waterloo, the name is perfectly suited to this aesthetic little juice shop uptown Kitchener. My personal favourites are the 24K Golden Milk, and the Half & Half Cold Brew!

  • Restore Cold Pressed - 1001 Huron Rd. East, Cleveland, OH 44115 

Yes, this one is a little bit further for my Canadian friends, but if you are ever in downtown Cleveland I would highly suggest checking this place out! Bowls, toast, smoothies, juices, you name it - they've got it all! My personal favourite was Pink Latte which consisted of almond milk, beetroot, vanilla, and cacao - tasted like strawberries and cream - amazing.


  • Coconut Oil

Yes, there was a little bit of controversy recently about the ingestion of coconut oil, but let's not ignore the fact that there is so much more to coconut oil than eating it! I personally use it everyday as a face and body lotion, makeup remover, hair mask, etc. etc. etc. It's just awesome, okay?

  • Ashwagandha

A powerful herb that assists with immune function, energy, and harmonizing the body through different types of stress - a great superfood to add to a smoothie!

  • True Cinnamon

Thanks to my big sis Tiff O'Connor for dropping some major knowledge bombs on me about cinnamon vs. TRUE cinnamon - turns out that plain old cinnamon isn't all that it's cracked up to be and it's actually TRUE cinnamon or ceylon cinnamon. True cinnamon has powerful health benefits that add in inflammation and regulating blood sugar levels.
