The Smoothie Bowl

The ever-famous smoothie bowl; both aesthetically pleasing and nutritionally satisfying. Pictures of these beautiful creations are plastered all over social media (mine included), but if made properly, the smoothie bowl offers a ton of nutritional value and will leave you filling satisfied for hours. Whether you make your own or find a healthy food spot that offers a menu full of them, this is a great way to shake up your regular breakfast.

There are a TON of different combinations you can use to make one, and it really is a free-for-all when it comes to adding toppings, but here are a few of my favourites and the awesome benefits they provide!

Acai Mixed Berry Boost

Ingredients:

1 Sambazon Pure Acai Berry Pack (see http://www.sambazon.com/superfruit-packs/)

1/4 Frozen Mixed Berries

3/4 Cup Unsweetened Cashew Milk

1 Scoop Vanilla Protein

Handful of Spinach or Kale

Toppings: Fresh berries, chia seeds, chopped almonds, hemp hearts, and cinnamon.

Directions:

Add all ingredients into a blender or food processor, and blend until everything is mixed. Pour in a bowl, top, and enjoy!

Choco & PB Slam

Ingredients:

1/2 - 1 Frozen Banana

3/4 Cup of Unsweetened Cashew Milk

1 Scoop of Chocolate (or Vanilla) Protein

1 Tbsp. of All-Natural Peanut Butter

1 Tsp. Cocoa Powder

Dash of Cinnamon

4-5 Ice Cubes

Toppings: Homemade granola (recipe to come!), or any chopped nuts, fresh fruit, and hemp hearts.

Directions:

Add all ingredients into a blender or food processor, and blend until everything is mixed. Pour in a bowl, top, and enjoy!

Quick tip: If you're having trouble getting your smoothie bowl to keep its consistency, try adding 1/4 TSP of xanthan gum; a thickening agent.
